What Is A Doula?

Empowering You Through Birth & Beyond

A doula is a trained professional who provides physical, emotional, and informational support to a mother before, during, and after childbirth. The word "doula" comes from a Greek term meaning "a woman who serves"—and that’s exactly what we do

What Does a Birth Doula Do?

As a birth doula, I walk alongside you and your partner through pregnancy, labor, and birth, offering encouragement, hands-on comfort, and guidance so you feel informed, empowered, and supported every step of the way.

Unlike a doctor or midwife, I don’t provide medical care—instead, I complement your birth team by:

  • ✔️ Educate & Prepare:

Helping you understand your birth options so you can make informed decisions.

  • ✔️ Provide Physical & Emotional Support:

Providing comfort measures like breathing techniques, positioning, and relaxation methods during labor.

  • ✔️ Advocate:

Supporting you in making informed decisions based on evidence, not fear. Making sure your voice is heard, while also working respectfully alongside your medical team.

  • ✔️ Empower Your Partner:

Creating a calm, reassuring presence for you and your partner during labor.

Why Having a Doula Matters

Birth is one of the most transformative moments in a woman’s life—but too often, moms feel overwhelmed, unheard, or unsupported in the process. My goal is to change that.

With The Bethany Birth, you’re not just hiring a service—you’re gaining a dedicated birth partner who sees you, honors your journey, and ensures you step into motherhood feeling strong, confident, and deeply supported.

With a birth doula by your side, you’re 60% less likely to have a C-section, more likely to have a positive birth experience, and less likely to need medical interventions.

The journey doesn’t end at birth! Isa also helps with the transition into motherhood, providing:

1

✔️ Offer Newborn Care Guidance

Help with swaddling, soothing techniques, and newborn sleep tips.

2

.✔️ Support Breastfeeding & Feeding Choices

Provide encouragement and resources to help with nursing or bottle feeding.

3

✔️ Help You Rest & Recover

Offer tips on postpartum healing and emotional well-being.

My care doesn’t stop after birth. I offer postpartum visits to check in on you, help with newborn care, answer any lingering questions, and provide emotional support as you transition into motherhood. This period is just as important as birth itself, and you deserve to be cared for during this sacred time.
